HAS YOUR TIME COME?
You've reached a painful plateau with your photography and desperately would like to break through to the next level. You've taken a few workshops to get you to where you are and you know you are
only as good as your last photo. You've even thought about just giving up and moving on to video...GASP! We have developed the workshop you are needing.
Photojournalism has changed in the 21st century. In fact, all of photography has changed! Nothing compares to the single decisive moment photograph. What we teach in this workshop will develop
your photographic eye and to see like never before. You will learn to create multimedia projects designed to go viral on the web. This well rounded workshop both shoots you into the 21st Century
creatively and teaches you how to be a true visionary, pioneering new ways to communicate important stories. Whether you are a seasoned pro or a serious amateur, plan on being challenged and
advancing your learning process by months, if not years!
Here's what you can expect when you take this workshop. We will meet the evening before the workshop begins for a public mixer so we can all meet including some locals that might be able to
help you with your assignments. You will also be given your assignments at the end of our mixer so you can begin mentally processing and anticipating the photographic approach you will want to take.
On day one we will meet early for a short lecture & presentation, followed by Q&A as needed. You will then be sent out to make contact with your assignment. At 1 P.M. each day there will
be an optional one hour lecture and or demo on Photoshop, Lighting, Marketing, Magazine Insider Secrets, and Web marketing techniques. Each dawn, sunrise and late afternoon, sunset,
& dusk you will be expected to work on your assignment. Each day you will meet with a photo editor to discuss your assignment progress and strategies. Come day five we will need to start
finalizing all student projects with final Soundslides ready to go live with. No worries, we will help you through this. In the end, we will have published an online multimedia magazine and will
later publish a coffee table book for everyone.
This is my favorite workshop to teach because students always learn to become much better photographers through this process. Something about having to mentally breakdown a story visually produces
much more compelling photos. In fact, I team taught this workshop at
Carolina Photojournalism
Workshop and our students won a 1st place for INDE News and Feature Multimedia Package in the 2009 Best of Photojournalism Competition. There's no reason we can't do the same with
this workshop! We have purposely and carefully vetted and picked our diverse locations for this workshop for compelling assignments for our student photographers. SFM-GLEN ROSE offers a unique
diverse mix of assignments including Fossil Rim Wildlife Research Ranch with its cheetahs, wolves and rhinos amoung it's menagerie. Finally is our real gem SFM-NEW ZEALAND. Though it is late fall here, we will arrive in New Zealand at their peak spring colors. Modern man has only
been on this Island for about 1000 years. You will truely feel like a National Geographic Photographer on assignment in the most exotic place in the world! As they say in New Zealand, "Good
On Ya Mate".
A LITTLE HELP FROM MY FRIENDS
As much as kevo would like to think heeee knows everything about photography, we all know kevo does NOT!!! That is why you will hear from other pro photographers, magazine photo editors
and/or ad agency art directors as guest speakers. Because they all come from different perspectives, you will gain nuggets of gold from what they have to say.
THE CAMP HIGH
What happens after most workshops? You go home and look at your photos from your assignments and you begin to ponder all you have learned. Then, the phone rings or your kids gang attack you or
you have an A.D.D. moment and the ceiling fan reminds you of something else and before you know it days go by and the “Camp High” begins to fade. Pretty soon you remember only half of
what was taught. NOT ON MY WATCH! You will receive a couple of post workshop assignments for the next couple of months via email or phone with a deadline to email me back your best image so we can
see how you have progressed and how you need to be further advised. This instructor will not be satisfied to just take your money! Only fully completed assignments will quench my thirst! I know what
it will take to prepare you for the nasty world of photography, not to mention my next photo workshops:-)

WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING
Besides a true desire to learn, you will need at least one digital SLR, a 20mm wide angle or a wide angle zoom that was 20mm in its range, a fast 50mm (1.8 minimum), a telephoto or
telephoto zoom, at least two smart flashes(two pocket wizards if the flashes are not smart), one small portable stands with flash mount, 1-2 million power flashlight and a tripod. You will also
need to bring your laptop with Photoshop loaded on the machine. If this is a problem don’t freakout and decide not to take the workshop or go out and
buy a bunch of stuff you may not want to buy. Call me and we will work something out.
