ARE YOU READY FOR THE BEST WILDFLOWER SEASON IN YEARS?

The last fews years have been like shooting wildflowers on the moon! All predictions for this year are great! So, you are ready to get out and shoot wildflowers with all you have. You're hoping this year you will actually get that dream shot you have tried and tried and tried and tried and tried to get. Ok, the flowers will be ready, your finally have "THE" camera and "THE" lense, but do you have the skills? Kevin Vandivier is the former Picture Editor for Texas Highways Magazine and has seen and judged millions of wildflower photos.

ALL FILET MINON-NO FAT

We will meet on location at 6 A.M. to start the workshop. This workshop will prove to be a bit different than most. Throughout the days you will come with me and observe how I approach actual wildflower assignments. Here’s the important part. Once I have set up the shot like I want, each of you will have a turn to shoot with your own camera. This way, you will have the image to analyze later on your own computer. As the shot is being set up you will hear me talking out loud as though there are two of me about to shoot. I've found we can have a lot of fun with this:) What lens is best, what I want in the background and the foreground and why. Don't worry, I haven't lost it. When you shoot I will guide you through multiple techniques. In the end, your self confidence might actually border on arrogance. We will return to home base to work through some photoshop ideas. The workshop will end when everyone’s questions have been answered!

WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING

Besides a true desire to learn, you will need one digital SLR, at least a 20mm or a zoom that was 20mm in its range, a fast 50mm (1.8 minimum) , a telephoto or telephoto zoom, your camera's manual, a laptop, at least one strobe set up for off camera triggering, a laptop with photoshop or lightroom loaded on it and a pen in case I say something worth writing down.
